Paul M. Kay

Paul M. Kay’s career has focused on strategic innovation and managing risk and technology—in both the public and private sector. He is also passionate about leveraging his experience and education to advance social justice causes.  

Paul is the Global Chief Information Security and Data Protection Officer at EchoStar, a worldwide provider of telecommunications products and services in more than 100 countries. In this role, he established EchoStar’s first strategic global cybersecurity and privacy protection organization. Prior to EchoStar, he was the Chief Security Officer and a Diversity and Inclusion Executive Sponsor for MillerCoors. He has also served in other leadership roles in various Fortune 500 and 100 companies. 

Preceding his work in private industry, Paul served in several U.S. law enforcement agencies, culminating in working as an organized crime and major case detective and 9/11 terrorism task force officer.  During his career, Paul was awarded the New York Law School 9/11 Student Hero Award, a Congressional commendation, and numerous other awards and has been featured on "Court TV."  

Paul holds a Master of Information Management Systems from Harvard, a Juris Doctorate from New York Law school, an MPA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a BS from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.  He also holds a Harvard post-graduate certificate in cybersecurity along with certifications in fraud examination, information security, and data privacy and has completed the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management Senior Executive Leadership Program. 

Paul is a former board member for the Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center.
