With our broad experience at all levels of government and strategic connections in the community, the OGCE team works closely with campus leadership and stakeholders to identify opportunities and support activities and priorities across campus that benefit CU and our local and statewide communities. We also assist faculty, staff and students in understanding issues and navigating political and legislative events and processes. Our team serves as a central coordination point for development and support of a campus wide strategy for effective community and government engagement.

At the local government level, our efforts focus on engaging with the community to help leverage the University's assets to benefit Colorado, and providing key connections with residents, local leaders, and other organizations to foster strong relationships that support regional priorities and campus goals. At the state and federal level, we partner with the CU System Office of Government Relations as they advocate for the budget, research and legislative priorities of the campus. These include but are not limited to increasing operating funds, financial aid and research funding and advocating for our interests on education, administrative and research policy.

We work directly with and belong to many local organizations such as chambers of commerce and engage with community groups and individuals. Our goal is to elevate awareness of CU Boulder as a partner on important community issues, a key economic driver, top-tier public research institution and resource for workforce development, information, arts and culture. We also facilitate cross-campus work with key partners to build awareness and affinity for CU Boulder in communities across Colorado, and develop partnerships in those communities to meet campus strategic goals.
