Suzie started her career at ODECE in September 2020, shortly after moving from Texas to Colorado. Her career working in public entities, specifically state universities and local municipalities, began in 2013 after completing her MBA at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Suzie began as the athletics accountant for the TAMUCC Athletics Department in 2014. From there, she transitioned to working in Texas municipalities, specializing in program, facility, and most importantly, financial management of corresponding Parks and Recreation Departments until 2020. Suzie was born and raised in Oxnard, California, and earned her BA from Saint Mary’s College of California. Suzie leapt at the chance to work for ODECE to continue her career in supporting programs and opportunities that foster a diverse community. Her upbringing and background in Southern California taught her many lessons about the importance of diversity, and that pursuing “inclusive excellence” needs to be continually supported for educational opportunities to be truly equitable for all. In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her family, running on local trails and experiencing the Denver Metro Area’s numerous activities.
