In order to help the CU Boulder campus deepen the practices of inclusivity, ODECE hosts regular conversations for the Inclusive Communities of Practice (ICoP) related to pedagody and workplace practices, respectively. These conversations are meant to be “brave spaces” where faculty, staff and students can talk honestly about areas of concern and practice techniques for making excellence inclusive in lived experiences.
The ICoP for pedagogy started in the Fall of 2017 with a series of conversations around how to deal with racially insensitive comments in the classroom and has grown to host a variety of topics.
Beginning in the Fall of 2018, a new series on ICoP for workplace kicked off with a conversation with Katelin Halloway, Head of Talent at Reddit. We recognized that a student's holistic learning experience in higher education includes both classroom and working experiences, so our goal was to make both environments proactively inclusive. Halloway's experiences in industry helped shed new light on what CU Boulder might adapt for its own environment, so that our workplaces engender a sense of belonging for everyone involved, and the rest of the series has continued in this vein since.
If you have any questions about the IWCoP, or if you would like to join either of our mailing lists for the ICoPs, please reach out to Dr. Alaina Beaver, Initiatives Director of Social Climate Strategy.
Upcoming Meetings TBA for Fall 2019
Please check back by the end of the summer for the new schedule!
Note: Though we may host the same topic more than once, all conversations are different because of who is in the room; we encourage you to attend however many meetings you can, as you see fit.
