John Meister serves as the Director of Disability Services within the Office of Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement. He joined the University of Colorado Boulder in 2009. He earned his Master of Science from the University of North Texas in 2006 with a specialization in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, and his Bachelor of Science from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 1991. Prior to his work at CU Boulder, he was the Disability Resource Coordinator at Colorado State University - Pueblo and a Graduate Assistant at Texas Woman's University. Additionally, he has served as a consultant to several post-secondary institutions in matters related to students, disability and equal access. John is the past Chair (2012-2013) of the Colorado Wyoming Association for Higher Education and Disability (COWY AHEAD) and has served in various leadership roles since 2007. He is also a member of the Association of Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) national organization. In his time outside of the office, John enjoys hiking, biking, camping and exploring all the many wonders that Colorado and the mountain west have to offer.
