Fernando L. Rosario-Ortiz is a professor and director of the environmental engineering program at CU Boulder. Rosario-Ortiz, originally from the town of Aibonito in the mountains of Puerto Rico, received his BS and MS in chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico and Caltech, respectively. He received his doctoral degree from UCLA in environmental science and engineering in 2006. He joined CU Boulder in 2008, after spending a few years working at the Southern Nevada Water Authority in Las Vegas. In his free time, he is an avid listener of heavy metal music, a passion he has had since childhood.
