After four years of campuswide focus on making excellence inclusive, from 2015-2019, the campus Inclusion, Diversity and Excellence in Academics (IDEA) Plan has been released. In 2018, Vice Chancellor Bob Boswell convened a committee charged with authoring a continuously renewing blueprint of actions designed to promote diversity, improve equity for all underserved people in the campus community, and support making excellence inclusive at all levels.

This committee of students, faculty and staff, co-chaired by Daryl Maeda and Merna Jacobsen, and coordinated by project manager Alaina Beaver, engaged in many months of diligent work.

Through a public review and feedback process that gathered input from over 500 people from across the campus, the committee reviewed and analyzed feedback, and made edits and clarifying additions to the Plan. The revised draft of the Plan was submitted to Vice Chancellor Bob Boswell for his review, and after his feedback was also incorporated, he provided the Plan to the Chancellor's Cabinet. The Chancellor's Cabinet also provided feedback and met with the Committee, which culminated in the final draft.

Text of the Plan

The entire CU Boulder campus community is invited to engage with the Inclusion, Diversity and Excellence in Academics (IDEA) Plan. We encourage you to attend the Diversity and Inclusion Summit, Nov. 12-13, to learn more about concrete next steps. Specifically, "The Intent and Impact of Our Campuswide Strategic Initiatives," (UMC 235, 12:30-1:45, pizza lunch provided) is an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to come together to discuss inclusive excellence more broadly.
