Brief Bio: Christopher Heney is a first year graduate student in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (ATOC) at CU Boulder. Christopher joins CU Boulder with a Bachelor's degree in Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences from the University of Michigan followed by 11 years experience as a U.S. Naval Officer. Christopher's impressive Naval service record began in 2005, having served aboard three ships (USS Russell, Juneau and Denver) in the capacities of Electrical Officer, Navigator, Port Facilities Manager, Installation Training Officer, Watch Officer, and most recently as Training Officer at the U.S. Naval Satellite Operations Center. Christopher is interested in bringing his considerable experience with aspects of the physical environment (marine weather forecasting, underwater acoustics, coastal operations, etc.) to bear on studying the regional climates of the South China Sea and the rapidly changing Arctic, as well as global offshore wind energy resources.
