Meredith Banasiak, M.Arch., EDAC, is a Senior Instructor in the Program in Environmental Design. Meredith’s research and teaching interest lies in examining the connection between the environment, body and brain using the lens of cognitive science in order to inform design applications which support and optimize human functionality, comfort and performance. Meredith was a former Research Assistant with the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture (ANFA) is a current member of ANFA’s Advisory Council. In 2012, she launched Humans and Buildings Laboratory (HabLab), a research group committed to studying interactions between people and environmental settings established with funding from a University of Colorado Innovative Seed Grant Program award. HabLab’s broad research aim is to expose people to various environmental stimuli in program-specific contextual settings and measure the impact on cognitive performance, physiological correlates of stress and emotional regulation, and self-reports of emotion.
