Angelica Garcia: Future Pharmacist

Angelica Garcia

Angelica Garcia

BA in Integrative Physiology and Certificate in Global Public Health

Class of 2020

Angelica has been part of the McNeill Academic Program since Fall 2016. Thanks to the support of the McNeill community, Angelica is well on her way to achieving her goal of being a pharmacist and will be attending the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus

The relationships forged within the McNeill community were the most remarkable to Angelica. She writes, “Being a first-generation Latina, McNeill not only made my career goals obtainable but also allowed me to meet the most incredible people along the way and create lifetime friendships.” The Día de los Muertos and Chinese/Lunar New Year events were stand outs for Angelica, allowing her to not only have delicious food but create new friendships within the community. It was these bonds that refocused Angelica during hardship, through all the supportmoral, academic, and financialthat McNeill offered [her], it made [her] keep striving” toward her goals.

Angelica’s dream of being a pharmacist is even closer to being a reality as she has been accepted into the pre-eminent and highly competitive Skaggs program! Further, Angelica was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship from the school for being an outstanding candidate, which she attributes to her involvement in McNeill. The Power Hour events offered Angelica the opportunities to “add so many great experiences to [her] resume.” These events allowed [her] to not only grow as a person but also create amazing connections.” Eventually, these connections and experiences set Angelica apart from the other applicants to Skaggs.

Angelica’s nominator and academic advisor, Paula Abitia, wanted to celebrate Angelica’s achievements as well as the important role Angelica has played in the McNeill community.

Congratulations from everyone at the McNeill Academic Program, Angelica! We are so excited for you to continue your path to becoming an outstanding pharmacist!
