My name is Kate Timothy and I am a Neuroscience and Psychology double major interested in the connection between sleep and psychological disorders and brain diseases. My research experience started in Dr. Wright’s Sleep and Chronobiology lab as an R25 Sleep and Circadian Research Scholar where I pursued and presented my own research project on the impact of time-of-day and circadian misalignment on blood biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease. Alongside my project, I have assisted in data collection for human research on sleep and circadian rhythms. I plan to continue working at the Sleep and Chronobiology lab to publish my work and to continue to gain experience as I apply to graduate school. I hope to center my graduate degree around my interests in sleep and its relationship with psychological disorders and the brain.
Outside of my work as a researcher, I love everything that involves being outdoors such as skiing, hiking and running. However, I love music, so my most expensive and rewarding hobby is going to concerts.
Mentor: Kenneth P. Wright Jr., PhD, Department of Integrative Physiology at CU Boulder.
