Karla Citlali Lemus Gordillo is a first-generation, non-traditional student graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Ethnic Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder. Karla has shown commitment to advancing equity through research, policy, and advocacy. Her research interests focus on immigration policy, race, power, and governance in Latin America and in the United States. She has participated in multiple prestigious research programs including RECCS, NOAA, and a NASA internship where she worked on environmental and climate justice initiatives.
Outside of research, Karla is actively involved in community leadership and advocacy. She has been a fellow with Conservation Colorado where she has worked to increase representation in local decision-making spaces. She supports undergraduate students as a mentor and workshop facilitator centering justice, intersectionality, and inclusive mentorship.
Outside of school and work, Karla finds joy in nature and adventure. She loves exploring Colorado’s landscapes and looks forward to more hiking, traveling, and discovering new places this summer.
