Jay's area of study is Architectural Engineering - specifically, studying structural engineering and materials science. His Research involves looking at the entire lifecycle environmental impacts of buildings from both energy and materials perspectives. Jay studied Architectural Engineering & Applied Math (minor) in undergrad and he completed the BS/MS program within CU Engineering. Has been involved in CU Engineers in Action (formerly CU Bridges to Prosperity) for 5 years in which he have traveled to Southern Africa and Bolivia a multitude of times to construct footbridges with rural communities. Jay serves as the Lead TA for the Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering department. This fall, he is teaching an Introduction to Architectural Engineering course and an upper level Sustainable Materials and Structures technical elective.
