Three MASP Students Receive the Jacob Van Ek Award

The award recognizes faculty-nominated students who display superior academic achievement and service to the University of Colorado Boulder, the Denver and Boulder communities, or larger national and international communities. This year, our very own Kiar Rickert, Gaby Solano Serna, and Nadyah Spahn received this very prestigious award.

Karen Ramirez Receives the 2021 Marinus Smith Award

Nominated by Dario Garcia, a current MASPian, our Assistant Director of Humanities, Dr. Ramirez, received an award given by the New Student and Family Programs division of student affairs that recognizes faculty and staff members who have had a particularly positive impact on our students. In his nomination, Dario notes that "Dr. Karen Ramirez encapsulates everything that defines not only an impeccable professor and advisor, but also an amazing person...Dr. Ramirez’s influence extends beyond her support of me and other students. Dr. Ramirez is an advocate and ally for teaching activism in all aspects of CU Culture."

Roshanne Ebrahimian Receives the Womxn Who Make a Difference Award

Nominated by Dr. Katharine Semsar, our Assistant Director of the Natural Sciences, Roshanne Ebrahimian, our Program Coordinator, received the Womxn Who Make a Difference Award this past December. The award honors womxn-identified campus community members who have made a difference at CU, and in the words of Dr. Semsar, Roshanne makes a difference by “creating a work environment where everyone can bring their whole selves.”
