Latin America map  with clouds on the background LASC is proud to announce the new interdisciplinary undergraduateCertificate on Latin American and Latinx Studies. 

This undergraduate certificate combines the study of Latinx communities in the United States with analysis of the histories, politics, cultures, arts, and societies of Latin America and the Caribbean. We welcome majors from all disciplines with an interest in Latinx communities and Latin America!

The certificate will train future professionals to better serve the growing Latinx population of the country and the state. We also envision that it will enhance the knowledge of the region to work in and with relation to Latin America in a wide range of disciplines and professions. LASC certificate supports students pursuing careers in research, business, social justice, international affairs, the sciences, Arts and Humanities, and environmental conservation in the Americas. 

The certificate received the endorsement of several departments at CU Boulder, such as Ethnic Studies, Geography, Women and Gender, Political Science, History, Spanish and Portuguese, Sociology, Art and Art History, and Theater and Dance, whose faculty will teach the elective courses of the certificate. 

The core course is LAMS 1000 Introduction to Latin American and Latinx Studies, which will be taught this Fall 2019. If you are a student interested in Latin America and Latinx cultures, consider enrolling in this course.
