Jose Malvido

Jose Malvido is a Ph.D. student at the University of Arizona, MA, San Francisco State University (Ethnic Studies). In 1993, he began his participation in the Peace and Dignity Journeys (Journeys), an Intercontinental Indigenous Prayer Run, which covers the entirety of Abya Yala, where two sets of runners begin from Alaska and Argentina,  for months they run to hundreds of communities across 15 countries and meet at a designated site. In December 2024, the Journeys will begin on May 1st and converge on December 28th in Colombia.

Jose is also the Senior Program Officer for the Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples.  Jose was formerly the Director of Community Services for Chicanos Por La Causa. Jose served as Community Health Department Director for the Indian Health Center of Santa Clara County. Jose has also been the Director of the Native American Programs for the Seva Foundation and a Social Justice Fellow for the San Francisco Foundation.  Jose also served as Vice President of the Board of Directors for International Funders for Indigenous Peoples and the Treasurer for both the Cultural Conservancy and Sapichay. Jose possesses extensive experience in program development, grassroots organizing, and managing multiple programs across several countries.
