3. Queer Indigenous Studies: Critical Interventions
This panel will discuss the intersection of indigeneity and queerness to challenge hegemonic understandings of gender and rooted sexual diversity. It will showcase how Indigenous peoples from Latin America (Abiayala) and North America (Turtle Island) have participated in a more flexible and multilayered sex/gender system and will promote a transhemispheric conversation about multicultural and diasporic experiences.
