Description: 

This presentation will explore the power of performance by the all-female troupe Ajchowen (part of the Maya Theatre group, Grupo Sotz’il in the sustenance of Maya culture in Sololá, Guatemala— their performances serving as a mechanism of cultural resilience. Included in this discussion will be the story of how this powerful indigenous troupe of women is now partnering with a school for Maya young women to strengthen the students' own resilience.
