The CO Motor Speech Lab, directed by Dr. Allison I Hilger, investigates how motor plans for speech production are executed, and how this process becomes impaired in neurological disorders. 

We are currently conducting online studies. If you are interested in participating in our research email us at allison.hilger@colorado.edu or fill out this form. We are recruiting the following groups of participants to measure speech, breath control, laryngeal movements, and swallowing: 

  • Adults with spinocerebellar ataxia (any subtype) or Friedreich's Ataxia to come into our lab at the University of Colorado or to participate in testing at the Annual Ataxia Conference in March 2023 or 2024
  • Adults with other neurological conditions to come into our lab at the University of Colorado

    • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
    • Primary Lateral Sclerosis
    • Huntington's Disease
    • Multiple System Atrophy
    • Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
    • Multiple Sclerosis 
    • Stroke

    • Cerebral Palsy
  • Adults without neurological conditions to serve as control participants
