In a new publication in the Journal of Physical Chemistry C, Ben Hammel and Leah Hall et al. study how compositional heterogeneity influences the absorption spectra of (Ga1-xZnx)(N1-xOx) nanocrystals. They used valence electron energy loss spectroscopy (VEELS) to study how compositional variation influences absorption within and between nanocrystals. Notably, a gradient of spectra are observed for one sample with high compositional heterogeneity between particles.
