PLEASE NOTE: 2017 GROUND SCHOOL IS CURRENTLY FULL. The 2018 Schedule will be released in September 2017.

 

These classes, designed and taught by IRISS UAS pilot and UCB Director of Flight Operations Daniel Hesselius, are for individuals seeking to fly unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) under the authority granted to UCB by the FAA. UCB students, faculty and staff who need to operate UAS as part of their work, studies or research are invited to attend.

Each session includes two four-hour classes held one week apart. If you attend the first class in one session but are unable to attend the second class during the same session it may be possible to attend day two during a later session. Classes must, however, be taken consecutively.

In addition to this ground school, flight training must be completed before being authorized to fly under this program.

  • Session 1:      January 12th and 19th, 12:30pm-4:30pm
  • Session 2:      February 21st and 28th, 12:30pm-4:30pm
  • Session 3:      March 23rd and 30th, 12:30pm-4:30pm
  • Session 4:      April 19th and 26th, 12:30pm-4:30pm
  • Session 5:      August 24th and 31st, 8:00am-12:00pm
  • Session 6:      October 16th and 23rd, 8:00am-12:00pm
  • Session 7:      December 5th and 12th, 12:30-4:30pm
