Rochelle Matthies

Rochelle Matthies serves as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for IT Service Delivery and Organizational Strategy at the University of Colorado Boulder. In this role, she oversees several key units within the Office of Information Technology (OIT), including User Experience and Information Design, User and Employee Engagement, OIT’s Human Resources and Administration, Portfolio and Service Management, and the IT Service Center. Her work is grounded in a commitment to delivering IT services and experiences to the CU Boulder community, with a strong focus on user-centered design, strategic engagement, and operational excellence.

Rochelle began her career at the Office of Information Technology after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2001. She joined OIT in the user communications and support space, where she helped shape the early digital experience for campus users through guides like the Getting Started with Campus Technology, web development projects, and foundational work on the OIT website. These formative experiences sparked her enduring passion for clear, intuitive user experiences and effective communication.

Throughout her career, Rochelle has contributed to major user-impacting implementations such as Canvas and Microsoft 365, always advocating for the end-user perspective. Internally, she has led efforts to deploy knowledge management tools, champion IT service management processes, and sponsor projects.

Rochelle is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership, further deepening her expertise in guiding teams and driving strategic change. She is a recipient of numerous SIGUCCS Communications Awards and holds certifications in ADKAR Prosci Change Management and ITIL v3 Foundations.
