Dear IAFS Community,

old main tower with flowersDr. Katherine Rousseau, our Assistant Director, has been recognized as an Arts & Sciences Employee of the Year for 2020/21.  This is a highly selective and competitive award.  Katherine is the first person in the Program in International Affairs to receive it.  We are thrilled for her and very proud that she represents us.

The award letter explained why the College chose Katherine for the award – leadership within the program and with constituencies outside of it, care for her responsibilities and clear direction for the duties of others, perseverance in achieving our goals, and devotion to students, staff, and faculty.  She simply performs – as simple as that – and at the highest levels.  Perhaps the most revealing comment had much more to do with her character and the tone she sets in the office: Katherine is a mentor and inspiration, somebody who ensures that everyone is heard and contributes in daily work and to our mission

All of us who have worked closely with Katherine have long acknowledged her contributions and how instrumental she has been, for years to the success of IAFS.  We are lucky to have her running the show!

I’d like to thank Dr. Doug Snyder and Jackie LaMaire Rogers for helping with this nomination, and Dr. Martin Boileau for orchestrating it.  Like them, I feel lucky every day that Katherine has helped make IAFS such a stellar program!

Congratulations Katherine!
