As technology and developments are being made in the realm of artificial intelligence, those interested in art and other creative endeavors are curious about the future of these technologies in relation to traditionally creative industries. Many artists and creatives are not concerned about [pthe threat of artificial intelligence and automation claiming that the new technologies will be able to expedite traditionally tedious tasks and allow creatives to focus on the artistic process. As artificial intelligence technology progresses, AI is slowly able to create things that are traditionally seen as creative such as films, paintings, and even music. Examples of work in these mediums is fed to algorithms and programs that look at patterns to ‘create’ new pieces of work.

People like Mario Klingemann use code and algorithms to develop AI that continuously creates portraits in real time. A pioneer in the world of visual arts and AI, Klingemann explores what it means to be an artist and pushes the definition of human creativity. His most recent work titled Memories of Passersby I has been shown in galleries, bringing artificial intelligence into the conversation regarding fine art and curation. The work involves a wooden console table that hosts the computer body containing the artificial intelligence program. Unlike previous similar works, this piece generates portraitures in real time allowing the audience to see the constant changes made by the AI. As these technologies continue to develop, creatives are seeing an increase in AI implementation through popular programs like those in the Adobe Creative Suite. Likewise, innovators and creators of AI are questioning the boundaries of what creativity means in the context of artificial intelligence. As modern society and culture begin to adapt AI technologies into everyday life, it will be interesting to see how traditionally creative industries are affected by the development and implementation of AI.
