Temitayo Babayeju

Temitayo Babayeju is a PhD candidate in the German program. He has a BA in German from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and a MA in German from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2025. His research interests lie at the intersection of home, identity, and belonging in German film and literature of the 20th and 21st century in marginalized communities. He is also interested in manifestations of the uncanny in dreams and waking thoughts. His interest in questions of Heimat influenced an article, “The Aesthetics of Belonging and Longing for a Home in Toxi,” which was published by Vernacular at the University of Tennessee, and his master’s thesis titled: Redefining Heimat: Exploring the Self, Culture and Space in Elliot Blue’s Home? and Mo Asumang’s Roots Germania.
