Sean Bray is a PhD candidate in German Studies, focusing on film, visual media, and critical theory. He originally joined the department as an MA student after completing his BA in Political Economy and German at Tulane University. He has also studied at the University of Regensburg in Germany. Currently, he is focused on the period a generation after fascism as a moment of racial formation in both East and West Germany. His work traces both the emergence of new attitudes towards race in the Cold War, as well as inheritances from the fascist and colonial past in the competing modernities of the FRG and the GDR.
