Sayalee KarkareGerman PhD candidate Sayalee Karkare has been awarded the Florence Husted Lowe and F. Rex Lowe Dissertation Fellowship by the Arts and Humanities Dissertation Fellowship Selection Committee. Sayalee was selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants from all the arts and humanities departments on campus.  In 2018-19, Sayalee will be working on her pioneering dissertation project, tentatively titled Gentle Subversion: The Art of the Essay Film, which is devoted to the essay form in contemporary literature and cinema and features, as a visual complement to the textual component, also the production of her own essay film. Sayalee has also been awarded a Provost's Fellowship for the Libraries for spring 2018 to produce a short film on Norlin Library. Congratulations, Sayalee, on these remarkable achievements!
