Hackett Publishing Company has published its second book by Jackson Crawford.
The Saga of the Volsungs, with The Saga of Ragnar Lothbrok continues the project Crawford began in 2015 with the publication of his bestselling translation of The Poetic Edda, which renders the most important source of the myths of the Norse gods in accessible, contemporary English for general readers and undergraduate classes. The Saga of the Volsungs is the medieval Icelandic epic of the ill-fated romances, tragic murders, and larger-than-life wars of the heroes of the Volsung family. Its sequel, The Saga of Ragnar Lothbrok, was also written in the Middle Ages in Iceland, and continues the story with another two generations of legendary Viking chieftains connected by marriage to the Volsung family.
