Thank you to all who expressed your concerns about the July 6 SEVP guidance for fall 2020, which we are happy to say was rescinded on July 14. Our understanding at this time is that the federal government’s guidance released in March of 2020 will apply for the fall 2020 semester.
Since the release of the July 6 guidance, the Graduate School has been working diligently with CU Boulder’s International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) and campus leadership to ensure that international students on F-1 visas would have the opportunity to continue their studies at CU Boulder for the fall 2020 semester. The university also collaborated with other higher education leaders, our congressional delegation, and the Colorado attorney general to address the now rescinded directive, as explained in the July 14 CU Boulder Today article.
A town hall had been planned for this morning to address the large number of questions we received before the guidance was withdrawn. While the town hall has now been canceled, we appreciate your patience as we sought answers and clarification to the numerous inquiries and concerns that have arisen over the past ten days.
The contributions of our international students to the campus and broader community are truly invaluable. They are an integral part of the CU community, and we are fortunate to have such diversity of students from around the world. I want to assure you that we are dedicated to supporting them and advocating for their needs during these uncertain times.
