Carla Ho’a, vice chancellor and chief financial officer at CU Boulder, has announced her retirement, effective November 2022.

Ho’a has served the University of Colorado for more than 30 years. Her first job with CU was with the former CU Health Sciences Center campus, where she worked as a high school student. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in business administration, both from CU Denver. Ho’a was chosen to lead CU Boulder’s Finance and Business Strategy organization in 2017 and was named CFO in 2019. She has led transformative campus-wide initiatives, including Financial Futures, a redesign of the campus budget model, the remission of graduate student fees, and the elimination of course and program fees for all students. A national search for Ho’a’s replacement will launch in the spring, with the intent of having some overlap between her and the incoming CFO.
