Yun (Rosa) Yu

Yun Yu got her PhD in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering at University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her primary research focus is drinking water quality and water chemistry, emphasizing the formation and degradation of regulated and unregulated disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in public water systems. She is especially interested in emerging nitrogenous DBPs, including haloacetonitriles, haloacetamides and N-chloro-haloacetamides, whose occurrence in drinking waters is of increasing health concern due to their substantial toxicological potencies. Through her research, she hopes to provide water managers and engineers with a more comprehensive understanding of the fate of these emerging contaminants in drinking waters from the source water to consumers’ tap and ultimately to help protect the public from the exposure to these hazardous DBPs.
