Dr. John Black is Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Colorado. Black specializes in applied cryptography as well as network and system security. He is the recipient of a U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER Award in addition to several teaching awards and has written numerous technical papers. Prior to his tenure at the University of Colorado, Dr. Black was an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Senior Developer for Ingres Corp. He has a B.S. ('88) summa cum laude in computer science and mathematics from the California State University and an M.S. ('97) and Ph.D. ('00) in computer science from the University of California at Davis. Dr. Black is also co-founder of
SecureSet, a company that provides cybersecurity education to computer professionals who wish to become security experts.
