Four girls stand against a counter. Three of them have Google Cardboards. The fourth is sharing with the girl on the right. We presented about STEM and NASA to students in a Tech class in Telluride. A class of 4th graders joined in to watch the presentation and ask questions. After the presentation, the 4th graders returned to their class and we engaged the 7th graders in 2 activities. One team member ran the flight simulator for small groups and asked them about the display.
We also brought Google Cardboards for the students to interact with. The activity involved dropping them in Paris using Google Maps and ask them to find the Eiffel tower using a printed map. After they search for a little bit, we ask them to brainstorm ideas for what types of displays would have helped them navigate. The cardboard activity is partially inspired by this years NASA SUITS Challenge which wants to have navigation displays in the project. The students had a lot of fun with the activity and came up with creative solutions.

We also presented about NASA and the SUITS Challenge to high school students in a classroom at Telluride. The presentation was open to students from other classes, but it was a smaller time period. We went through all the slides and answered a few questions before they had to get back to class. The students showed a lot of interest in NASA and we’re excited to potentially return to do outreach again next year!
