Robert Buffington is a Professor of Women and Gender Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research focuses on the histories of crime, gender, and sexuality in Mexico and Latin America. His most recent book, A Sentimental Education for the Working Man: The Mexico City Penny Press, 1900-1910 (Duke University Press, 2015) analyzes the impact of modernity on working-class notions of manhood in early twentieth-century Mexico City.
