CU Mountain Research Center

CU's Mountain Research Station (above), is located 25 miles northwest of Boulder.

Recognized as one of the top research universities in the country, CU ranks 12th in federal support for research and development. The largest part of this funding is dedicated to research and instruction in environmental sciences, engineering, and policy.

CU has access to top-notch research facilities, such as its Mountain Research Station which is located along an altitudinal gradient extending to an elevation of 12,400 feet on Niwot Ridge, 25 miles northwest of Boulder. CU also conducts collaborative research with such Federal agencies as the National Center for Atmospheric Research, the laboratories of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the Department of Energy's nearby National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Center.
