Accommodations at Individual College, School or Department Recognition Ceremonies

Several units host individual recognition ceremonies following the university commencement ceremony.  Each unit will provide graduating students with information related to that student’s individual recognition ceremony event in the weeks prior to commencement.  Individuals who require accommodation for any of the recognition ceremonies should contact ADA & Accessibility at adacoordinator@colorado.edu at least two weeks in advance of the event so that the appropriate arrangements can be made. We will make all reasonable efforts to fulfill requests submitted after the deadline; however, requests received after the deadline cannot be guaranteed as it is dependent on a service provider’s availability.

Service Animals

The University of Colorado Boulder welcomes guests and their service animals to our campus, including at commencement and recognition ceremonies. Service animals must remain under control of their handler and not cause a disruption to the event. CU Boulder recommends service animals be identifiable by wearing a vest or harness.

Commencement staff may need to relocate a guest to alternate seating if the service animal impacts fire code regulations or cannot reasonably fit within the space provided by the individual’s seat. We will make all reasonable efforts to ensure the seat is similar to the one you selected.  Please note that, per University policy, personal pets and assistance animals (therapy animals, emotional support or comfort animals) are not allowed in CU buildings, but are allowed in outdoor spaces.
