Accommodations at Individual College, School or Department Recognition Ceremonies
Several units host individual recognition ceremonies following the university commencement ceremony. Each unit will provide graduating students with information related to that student’s individual recognition ceremony event in the weeks prior to commencement. Individuals who require accommodation for any of the recognition ceremonies should contact ADA & Accessibility at adacoordinator@colorado.edu at least two weeks in advance of the event so that the appropriate arrangements can be made. We will make all reasonable efforts to fulfill requests submitted after the deadline; however, requests received after the deadline cannot be guaranteed as it is dependent on a service provider’s availability.
Assistive Listening Devices
Assistive listening devices are located at the Guest Services information kiosks on the plaza as you head into Folsom Field. No advance reservations are required. These will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Service Animals
The University of Colorado Boulder welcomes guests and their service animals to our campus, including at commencement and recognition ceremonies. Service animals must remain under control of their handler and not cause a disruption to the event. CU Boulder recommends service animals be identifiable by wearing a vest or harness.
Commencement staff may need to relocate a guest to alternate seating if the service animal impacts fire code regulations or cannot reasonably fit within the space provided by the individual’s seat. We will make all reasonable efforts to ensure the seat is similar to the one you selected. Please note that, per University policy, personal pets and assistance animals (therapy animals, emotional support or comfort animals) are not allowed in CU buildings, but are allowed in outdoor spaces.
Sensory Inclusivity
Sign Language Interpreting
American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting is provided during the university commencement ceremony. The interpreters will be located in front of section 119. If you would like to request a sign language interpreter for an individual recognition ceremony, please contact the ADA Compliance Office at adacoordinator@colorado.edu or the ADA & Accessibility website at least two weeks in advance of the ceremony. Please include information about the location and time of the ceremony in your request.
Transportation
Several accessible transportation resources are available for our guests who are traveling to campus for commencement. We recommend reviewing the Accessible Transportation Referrals document for a detailed list of available options.
Wheelchairs and Other Mobility Devices
Wheelchair assistance and accessible seating options are available for the university commencement ceremony. Please note that wheelchairs are for transportation only and cannot be used for patron seating during the ceremony. Additionally, we are unable to loan wheelchairs for use throughout the day, due to the volume of patrons needing these services and our limited supply of wheelchairs. If you do not have a personal mobility device that you can bring with you, you may choose to rent one in your hometown or from a local rental agency.
Find local wheelchair and scooter rental agencies.
Wheelchair Assistance
Staff with wheelchairs will be stationed on the north side of Duane Physics and Astrophysics to assist guests with wheelchair transport to and from the curb to the seating area. You may wish to arrive early and please note it will take some time to help all guests back to their vehicle. No reservations are required for wheelchair assistance. You can view this area and the nearest parking on the wheelchair station map.
Wheelchair Seating
Wheelchair seating will be available in Sections 103, 114, 118, 119, and 121. (View Map of Folsom Stadium Seating). Companion seating is also available, but as space is limited during commencement we ask that only two guests accompany you in this area. Seating is available nearby for additional family members and friends. Officials will be on hand the morning of the ceremony for assistance. Reservations are not required for these seating areas, but as these seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis we recommend arriving early.
