Rob Bates

Last summer Rob Bates (InfSys’88) trained to fly the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. After serving 22 years in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserves, Rob flies full time as a first officer with United Airlines. United initially will use the new fuel-efficient 787 on routes to Asia and Africa. Rob and his wife have been married for 18 years, have two children and live in San Diego, Calif.
