Deborah Méndez-Wilson serves as a spokesperson for the University of Colorado Boulder. Her career spans decades in the United States and South America, where she worked as a bilingual journalist and ESL teacher. Since 2003, she has worked in strategic and crisis communications in higher education, public transit, and health care. As a journalist for the Associated Press in Denver, she covered breaking news stories, state and federal politics, business, and education and wrote feature stories and book reviews for the AP’s national news desk. She was also a staff writer for a national high-tech trade publication and has freelanced for other U.S. and Latin American publications and online outlets. Méndez-Wilson is a #ForeverBuff who holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science. Her Indigenous-Hispano family roots run centuries deep in the historic Sangre de Cristo region of southern Colorado and northern New Mexico.
