New Backyard for Koenig

Built as a residence for CU’s first president, Koenig Alumni Center is now 132 years old — but the new backyard is vintage 2016. On April 28, after six months of demolition and reconstruction, the expanded and newly landscaped property hosted its first big event, Grad Bash, the Alumni Association’s annual festival for graduating seniors. More than 1,800 attended. The Koenig property, which hosts about 200 events a year, including scores of weddings, now offers an additional 1,800 square feet of outdoor space, a new gazebo and a giant, all-weather 20-footby-40-foot tent. Landscapers planted locust trees, vinca vine and peonies and laid fresh sod.

Koenig is available for rental. For details and reservations, call 303-492-8484 or visit colorado.edu/alumni.

Chapter and Club Tidbits

The Latino Alumni Association is hosting its annual Chile Open Golf Tournament on July 16 at Colorado National Golf Club. In its 30-year history, the tournament has raised nearly a million dollars in scholarship funds for Buffs. … If you’re a CU vet, consider joining the Veterans Alumni Club spearheaded by Rex Laceby (Hist’02) for a network of comradery and support. … The GLBT alumni club, led by Jessica Polini (Law’09), raised money to support two scholarships for GLBT students for the 2016-17 school year. … There are two new CU chapter leaders: Maurissa McCarthy (Art’09) is co-leading the NorCal chapter with Kayleigh Lloyd (PolSci’10), and Ben Keady (Fin’13) and Cody Mothersell (Mgmt’04) are heading the Sacramento chapter. … Finally, the Directors Club’s biggest event of the year, the Directors Club Annual Conference, was scheduled for June in  Keystone, Colo. The agenda included a golf tournament and talk from CU physics professor Steven Pollock, a 2013 U.S. Professor of the Year.
