Global Jam on Farrand Field

Each fall the newest members of the Forever Buffs family connect — most for the first time — during the university’s Week of Welcome, which includes free activities in the CU Recreation Center, a Welcome Fest in the University Memorial Center and a concert on campus hosted by CU’s Program Council. This year’s Global Jam (pictured), held on Farrand Field, offered students food from Brazilian, South African, Philippine and German (Bavarian) cuisines, as well as live dance performances, a DJ and a drum circle.

A day after this photograph was taken, nearly 800 incoming students participated in the Buff Day of Service, landscaping at community organizations, cleaning up flood debris, restoring trails and painting local elementary schools.

The week of Aug. 18, a total of 6,718 undergraduates moved into campus residence halls.
