Any time is a good time to arrive in a college town, especially Boulder, especially as summer eases into fall and campus again channels the hum of communal learning. In college towns, fall is the true spring.

Nearly 6,000 freshmen arrived in mid-August. Some moved into a splendidly renovated Baker Hall. About 6,000 people also used the new Rec Center the first day of classes.

In time, some of the newest Buffs will make lives in Boulder or nearby, like Sara (Anth’92) and Lenny Martinelli(EnvDes’90), who operate a Boulder restaurant empire. Others will seek fortune farther afield — as Facebook’s Kelly Graziadei (Jour’97) and TiVo cofounder Jim Barton (ElEngrComp-Sci’80) have in California. All can call CU-Boulder home.

Like some students, I’m new: I joined the Coloradan in August. It’s my privilege to be among you and to thank former editor Tori Peglar (MJour’00) and associate editor Christie Sounart (Jour’12) for their work on this issue.

The Coloradan will continue to reflect the best of the Buffs. Your stories are bountiful and remarkable.
