Swimming in the Buff

Next time you visit Boulder, you may want to bring your swimsuit and goggles. A large Ralphie-shaped outdoor pool is being built as part of the Rec Center’s $63.5 million renovation funded by a new student fee, approved by students in a landslide 2011 vote. One of the largest facilities in the nation in the 1970s, the CU Rec Center dropped below national standards. The renovation and expansion started in June. The pool will be warmed by heat produced by ice rink operations and will be open from mid-April to mid-October.
