Course description: This class prepares students to work for news enterprises on the Internet, taking advantage of its multimedia presentation capabilities and exploring the ways social networking has blurred boundaries between mass and interpersonal communication. Depending on student goals and aptitude, the class focuses on everything from web production to mobile apps and eReader products.

Abbreviated reading list: The class relies on textbooks and articles from journals and magazines to fuel in-class discussions and blog assignments.

Stevens says: “It’s an interesting and rewarding experience watching students apply their journalistic values in new environments. The results aren’t always predictable, but the process pushes both instructor and student to expand the boundaries of journalism.”
