Extreme sports enthusiasts crave adrenaline rushes, but they know the importance of preparation and safety before jumping from a plane or climbing a steep mountain. New investors, on the other hand, often leap into the trading game with little understanding of the risks involved. Advertising students at CMCI recently worked on a campaign designed to counteract such risky behavior.

One student, Makayla Karas (StratComm’22), was hired by Colorado’s Department of Regulatory Agencies to see their project come to life. She spent months reworking the original pitch for the real world. The campaign, “Protect Your Investments Like You Protect Your Adventures,” is featured on a billboard along Interstate 70, near Empire.

“The whole point is to help young people be successful with investing, and I believe that safety can start with a simple conversation between friends,” Karas said. “Seeing the billboard for the first time was really emotional. It was a physical representation of all the hard work over the last year.”
