- COMMUNICATION

Sindhu Nepolean (She/Her) is a PhD student in Organizational Communication, considering Community & Social Interaction as another potential area of interest. She has drawn on ethnographic research to study communication technologies as they are used within risk communication for and by the coastal fisher community in South India, as well as corresponding questions around affect, expertise, and climate uncertainty. She has done her Postgrad at the University of Hyderabad in India. Hailing from a small marine coastal village of Pulluvila in Kerala, India, she brings over a decade of grassroots experience working with fisher communities, alongside six years in media and communication. She has worked in various roles like a Television Journalist, a Research Assistant, and a Communication consultant over the years. Her academic and professional journey bridges activism, journalism, and storytelling, with a focus on community media, coastal justice, and the politics of voice and representation. Sindhu believes in the transformative power of community organizing and is now expanding her work through academic research as a PhD student in the College of Communication, Media, Design and Information at CU Boulder.
