APRD Associate Chair Burton St. John III, APR, researches public relations and the management of risk and crisis. He is the author of the 2017 book Public Relations and the Corporate Persona: The Rise of the Affinitive Organization (Routledge), a finalist for AEJMC's 2018 Tankard Book Award. He is also co-author of the 2017 book Crisis Communication and Crisis Management: An Ethical Approach (Sage).  He is lead editor of the 2018 volume Cases in Public Relations Strategy (Sage) and also edited the first-ever release, in 2017, of Ivy Lee's book-length 1928 manuscript Mr. Lee's Publicity Book: A Citizen's Guide to Public Relations, PRMuseum Press. His co-edited volume Pathways to Public Relations: Histories of Practice and Profession, was a first public relations book to be a finalist for AEJMC’s Tankard Book Award.

He has published in numerous journals and edited volumes, and has 15 years in professional public relations.
