Shamika Klassen
Shamika Klassen is a PhD candidate in the Department of Information Science who studies the relationship between technology and social justice, especially as it relates to Black people.

Her research included a comparison of the Negro Motorist Green Book to Black Twitter, a speculative research fiction about a social media platform by and for Black users, workshops investigating how Black people imagine the future of technology and more. Throughout these projects, she worked with Black female designers to create speculative artifacts that capture our imaginations and technological hopes. Klassen has been interviewed by Zerlina Maxwell on her MSNBC show, and she presented at the Yale Social Media Governance Initiative Spring 2023 Convening.
