Who: Free and open to the public
What: “Environmental Journalism in the Era of Trump”
When: Monday, Oct. 22, 6:30 p.m.
Where: ATLAS Center, Room 100

A three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Lipton will recount his nationwide site visits—including trips to Montana, Wyoming, Texas, Ohio and Illinois—to inspect the impact of policies the Trump administration has made on public health and the environment. Based on these visits and his reporting, he’ll consider the implications these changes may have on future generations in coming decades.

Who are the former industry lobbyists and lawyers inside the Trump administration running the effort to roll back environmental protections? Did the resignation of Trump’s EPA chief, Scott Pruitt, make a difference in the administration's environmental impact? How much harm or benefit have these changes caused? Lipton will answer these questions and many others.

The annual series, which is free and open to the public, was created in 2017 to honor CU Boulder Center for Environmental Journalism founding director Len Ackland. It is co-sponsored by the Center for Environmental Journalism; the College of Media, Communication and Information; the University of Colorado School of Law; the Albert A. Bartlett Science Communication Center; NEST Studio for the Arts; and the Department of Journalism.
