Richard Bender

Richard is the executive assistant at The Center, providing administrative, logistical and strategic support to the team.  

Richard was born in Germany and grew up in Colorado Springs in a multiracial Filipino/German family. He is an immigrant and a first-generation college student. Richard completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees right here at CU Boulder, earning his PhD in anthropology in 2019. Richard’s research and publication experience is focused on human biology, nutrition, health inequities and research methods. He taught lectures and seminars for 10 years at CU Boulder before joining The Center team in 2020. 

At The Center, Richard is proud to support our diverse communities of students in their identity development, personal growth and academic success. Outside of work, he loves cooking, reading and spending time with friends and family.
