In the summer of 2018, the Cultural Unity and Engagement Center (CUE), the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) and the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) joined to create the new Center for Inclusion & Social Change (The Center).
The Cultural Unity & Engagement Center
The CUE was founded in 1968 and had evolved from four ethnic/race-specific and one migrant-profile Educational Opportunity Programs, whose purpose was to recruit and retain students of color and offer a place to support underrepresented and first-generation students.
Women's Resource Center
The WRC, known affectionately as “The W” and “The Dub,” opened in the fall of 1994 and worked to advance a socially just and inclusive campus climate to support and advocate for women students’ success using gender equity as a framework.
Gender & Sexuality Center
The GSC was created in 1995 to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and allied communities on campus.
Each of these departments provided educational experiences, community building, involvement opportunities, resources and gathering spaces for students on campus. These aspects continue to be provided through the new Center for Inclusion & Social Change. The collective efforts of the new center offers strengthened services, greater advocacy, more innovative programs and events to support undergraduate and graduate students across multiple intersecting identities in academic, personal and professional success at CU Boulder.
